I had a Vasco V4 translator that was malfunctioning. It is possible it was damaged during shipping. After system resets did not resolve the issue, Vasco replaced the device. Their customer service is commendable. A tip: Scan your purchase documents, and keep the box the Vasco is shipped in. There is a generous two-year warranty. For live conversations, the Vasco is much better than getting out my phone and activating Google Translate. It simply works better with less fumbling and scrolling. Living abroad, it's an essential tool. Highly recommended.
Our purchase did not arrive in time, but I contacted customer service and they reimbursed for the expedited shipping. They were so concerned that the unit would not arrive in time and we’re willing to reimburse us if I returned it , but it arrived just in the nick of time and we used it on our trip to Italy and it was amazing..
Everything got delivered and was as advertised. But I had to ask for shipping information as it was not sent out to me initially. The plastic case also covered the earphone jack, so you have to remove it from the device to use the audio, which is pretty stupid. If a device is going to have a case it should be useable. A flap is an easy fix.
The device translates very poorly and cannot clone voices as advertised; it misinterprets sentences spoken into the microphone. It is definitely heavily overrated.
We purchased a Vasco Q1 for our upcoming trips. We have had a chance to use it at home and it is easy to use and we are excited to have it. Vasco was quick to help us with an issue when we needed help.
I want a full reimbursement honestly the thing picks up on words that aren't being said the headphones are not easy to use and I maybe have a streak of luke 4-6 bars of conversation before the thing gets whacky. Im very disappointed this was the most expensive translator on the market I expect it to reflect that.
I called to ask if the ear buds could work with the V4, staff answered my question and more. I received it and used it that weekend at a wedding, it worked exceptionally. thank you for great products, service and reliability.
Best purchase of my life! Wish I had one 33 years ago at the start of my career. In the first week, I’ve used it daily using Spanish, Russian, and Indian languages. So much easier to communicate!!!
The entire purchase from Vasco Q1 was seamless. I was extremely happy with the Vasco Q1 in South America. Now I’m in Seoul and as much as everyone says English is common spoken language, it actually isn’t outside the tourist areas. Again, the Vasco Q1 works fantastic and has been essential in getting around without speaking any Korean. I’m so impress with Vasco Q1.
So far, what we are experiencing is that the translation is slow and the device doesn't always respond. Also, it doesn't block out the ambient noise in the room, so if there are other conversations or activities going on, the device does not translate. It has to be perfectly quiet, which is not practical.
The Vasco Q1 is garbage compared to FREE Google Translate. I have been using the Q1 for over two months throughout Southeast Asia and have had nothing but problems. The latency for translations is extremely poor, mostly because it has to function connected to the internet only. It cannot do any onboard translations. This is extremely painful while inside a building where the cellular signal may not be that good. Out in the countryside, forget it. It won't respond. Google Translate has none of these issues because language packs can be downloaded. The biggest failure is the voice cloning gimmick. Everytime I have used my cloned voice in Malay, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, etc, no one can understand me. I asked those who also speak English why. I am constantly told my cloned voice has no inflection, which is crucial in most Southeast Asia languages. The telephone translation feature doesn't work, at all, the photo translator only works if you take a photograph with the Q1 and wait for it to be translated, compared to Google Translate where you merely have to hold your phone’s camera up to a sign and it translates accurately in real time. There are other shortcomings about the Q1 I could go on about, but just those I’ve listed above are a dealbreaker for me and they should be for you, too. $550 is a lot of money to throw away when a far superior and free app is right under your nose. Please don't make the same mistake I made.
