My therapist wasn’t able to help me. I’m not sure why. There was never a clear plan during treatment. I don’t feel I’m beyond help. Holding me accountable might have helped, almost anything, might have helped.
Thriveworks has been a disappointing experience. The billing department has made multiple mistakes, telling me I owed them thousands of dollars over a year after service. It took hours of my time on the phone figuring out what they did wrong. My physiatrist did not listen to me, and didn't even know what I took my medications for, even after I saw her for over a year. Do not waste time with them.
This place is a JOKE! We have been waiting on a family members diagnosis and paper work for over 2 months!! Ofcourse we have called and been given promises and the run around. They have time to bill the insurance and send a bill but no time to send the paid for info to the client. RUN AWAY AND GO SOMEWHERE THAT CARES ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS MENTAL HEALTH!!!
Had an appointment the therapist did not show waited for a half an hour she still did not show very very unprofessional and they charged me anyways thriveworks is absolutely horrible do not use them find a reputable trusting psychologist, and be very careful they will charge you no matter what, read their reviews are absolutely horrible not a good company, don't waste your time when they comment on your review
They did not inform me that my provider's contract was not being renewed. I found out from my provider at my last session. My child's provider started her on a new medication and left on vacation. My child had an allergic reaction and there were not other providers that specialize in the diagnosis of bipolar type 1 and was told to find help elsewhere until her provider returns from vacation.
All of the staff that I interacted with we're very kind but there wasn't a ton of helpful communication and a lot of my questions weren't directly answered. There is also some mistakes that were made by thriveworks that made my interactions a bit more difficult.
My First Therapy Appointment Ended With a $240 Surprise
It's ironic that a company whose mission is to support people's mental health has caused me so much unnecessary stress. I chose Thriveworks because their website listed a therapist as accepting my insurance. I booked the appointment based on that information. Two minutes after my therapy session had already started, I received an email saying the therapist was actually out of network and that I would be billed $240. By the time I saw the email, the session was over. I was never given the chance to make an informed decision before incurring that cost. I immediately disputed the charge and asked billing not to charge my card while the issue was being reviewed. Customer support said my case had been forwarded to a billing specialist. Billing never responded. Instead, Thriveworks charged my card anyway. The part that hurts the most is that I've been waiting over a year to start therapy. It took a lot to finally reach out for help, and what should have been a hopeful first step instead left me feeling misled, anxious, and distrustful. Mistakes happen. What matters is how a company responds to them. Unfortunately, my experience has been one of poor communication, disregard for a pending billing dispute, and a lack of accountability. I sincerely hope Thriveworks improves its insurance verification and billing practices. No one seeking mental health care should have to leave their very first appointment wondering whether they can trust the company that's supposed to be helping them.
Scammers. I had 3 appointments this week where no one showed. 2 atleast the therapist contacted me & has no electricity. The 3rd called, there was a zoom issue, I called back with no way to get the practitioner directly, next, contacted customer service immediately during the appointment time. They were no help other than his email in which he never responded. They then without authorization charged my bank $135 no show fee though I was on the phone with them trying to connect during the appointment??? Like idk who runs this place but it screams scammers!
Avoid Karen Jacobs-White, LPC at Thriveworks at all costs. She is a hyphenated liberal that does not believe in traditional marriages. I could have used a magic 8 ball and gotten better advice. Steven Hankinson
My provider is amazing! I have no issue with her at all. The reason I have a 4 is due to the business/customer service side. I have had several issues with them billing for visits either incorrectly or requesting/ taking payment without verifying my insurance coverage. I have 2 insurances and recently found out that my second insurance has been paying them, as well. When I call, it seems as though no one really understands how to rectify the discrepancies. I wish the billing practices were more consistent and that they had actually certified coding/billing contacts who we could speak with.
They double charged me. I called them the customer service rep called me a liar to my face lied about a supervisor they never came to the phone. She was veru rude. they stole my money I only had 1 family visit on 10/5/2025 I told her that I told her to please reach out to the Dr and she stated that was not her Job. The Dr was a family counseling session. which if she would have reviewed the billing like I did she would have seen that. I do not know how to reach the dr they are fraud and they lie i want my money back I never was with this DR for 2 hours.
Fraudulent & Sloppy Billing, Dangerous Handling of PII
I have had multiple issues with this organization over-billing me, billing random amounts at random times (how does that happen!!) and suddenly not processing things through insurance. When I go to correct my insurance, I am told it is solved, and then I am charged directly again. Every time it takes weeks or months to get a refund. On top of that, they are so sloppy with PII- giving other patients to me (I did not ask for it) over the phone "accidentally", not asking for verification. I think the only way they get away with it is that people are genuinely attached to their therapists, so they can be an incredibly shady business. I am sure they have been sued and investigated before.
You are charged an initial eval fee every time you see someone new. Your info is not shared across Thriveworks providers. Be ready for this whenever your therapist leaves or has a sub. Psychiatrists were not equally trained on billing and often charge differently or more than others. I was often charged extra for psychotherapy when all a session consisted off was casual chat and them talking about their own monthly updates over my own. Your provider can not provide your documentation and everything must be requested through the company instead. If you question billing, support will ignore you rather than explain their own claims to your insurance. Billing is a complete scam.
Awful. Therapist couldn't get my name right, kept asking the same questions over and over again. Would not respond to emails. Worst of all, they send an appointment reminder 24 hours before a session but have a 48 hour cancellation clause, so if you do cancel when you get the reminder, it's too late, they bill you 100%.
