It's a total scam, 2 clicks to enter and join and the Computer science degree to exit and cancel. They choose an unknown therapist for you, you don't even get to choose and they make it difficult to cancel even with 8 attempts and then they charge you for no show this is the type of fraud Trump has been talking about.
My therapist is a great listener and gives honest and helpful feedback. I appreciate the podcast recaps that offer practical tools to use between sessions. Scheduling is super convenient and accommodates my busy schedule.
Various pros and cons. There's nothing scammy or evil about the site, but it's buggy and weird to use and a lot of the therapists are freaks or utterly ineffective. It can be a real waste of money and time. That may be more a function of telehealth (or even therapy itself) than an issue with this site, but maybe they should vet counselors more aggressively and not anonymously show the feedback to the counselor right when you make it. It disincentivizes patients from making bad reviews of therapists especially if that therapist didn't have many patients. It's a hard thing to figure out because many patients can get unfairly angry with therapists or sometimes a hardcore style is needed or superior even if it hurts feelings. Any other misgivings I would have to say are to do with individual counselors rather than the site or company itself
Has made seeking therapy feel more accessible. Overall a good experience for solo therapy, however I do feel like 45 mins of video chat is not long enough for an effective couples session, and Talkspace only offers this as the max time allotment for couples therapy that we tried.
I put my insurance info into Talkspace and their system told me I was covered. So I booked the earliest session I could get with a therapist I liked, a 6am call, because I was relieved and excited to finally start care. I spent that whole hour opening up about deeply traumatic things to give a picture of what we’ll be working on. The kind of memories that bring me immense pain just to say out loud. I only shared them because I thought I was starting real, ongoing care. The second the session ended, I got an email saying my insurance wasn’t approved after all. I asked them to explain what happened and to review my insurance details again, since the site says it’s included. All I got was a copy paste “we’ve shared this with our team” reply and then nothing. It’s been 25 days now. No follow up. No fix. No response AT ALL. This is a mental health company. People come here already struggling and hand over things they can barely say out loud. Talkspace lied to me about my coverage, pulled trauma out of me, took my sessions anyway, and then ghosted me. Do not trust a single thing they tell you, including absolutely useless responses to reviews.
I love the convenience of it being an app and the conversations with my therapist can be face to face or just audio. I am so grateful to have found someone I feel safe discussing my issues with. Amy is amazing.
I like the therapist but talkspace billed my insurance under behavioral health instead of using my employee assistance program which should have given me 10 free visits. Now I'm stuck with a bill for $125 per visit. They're saying that because they submitted to my insurance, they can't change to use my EAP so either I pay or they send it to collections.
I came to Talkspace because of the positive reviews I read about the quality of its services. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing, and I'm beginning to question whether those reviews accurately reflect the service. The therapist I selected, Kerdija, has canceled on me twice—both times after I had scheduled appointments during a period when I genuinely needed someone to talk to. What's even more frustrating is that I was never given a reason for either cancellation. If appointment times are available to book, patients should be able to rely on them. Repeated last-minute cancellations without any explanation leave people feeling let down, especially when they're seeking mental health support. Based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend Talkspace or Kerdija as a therapist. I hope the company takes situations like this seriously and improves its reliability and communication with patients
My specialist via the site have been absolutely amazing. However, if you need support for IT issues or requests for medical records or have billing issues expect to never receive a response from the medical records team. The phone lines do not work either. The entire operations teams an unresponsive. I have also filed a BBB complaint and have yet to receive a response to that either. Use at your own risk.
The therapist that I have been working with (Elizabeth) has been fantastic throughout the entire experience. Very easy to schedule appointments and use the chat feature.
Five stars isn't enough. I'm currently working with Dr. Arras Khaledi through Talkspace, and I wanted to take the time to write this because he's made such a meaningful difference in my life. Before meeting him, I didn't believe therapy worked. My earlier experiences left me feeling judged and unheard. But with Dr. Khaledi, that changed. I first came to him carrying years of grief after losing my dad, along with anxiety and family stress. He never once made me feel rushed or broken. He listened. He asked thoughtful questions and helped me discover answers and strengths I didn't know I had. One moment I'll never forget is when he created a guided meditation just for me before an interview. He wove in my faith, my dad, my husband, and my kids. It was personal, it was compassionate, and exactly what I needed. Even now, while I'm still in therapy, every session feels authentic. Sometimes it's deep work. Sometimes it's an everyday check-in. But I always walk away feeling lighter and stronger. Dr. Khaledi didn't just help me through tough seasons. He helped me believe in therapy. I feel genuinely cared for and I'm grateful to continue working with him. If you're searching for a therapist on Talkspace who is compassionate, insightful, patient, and truly invested in your growth, I recommend Dr. Arras Khaledi without hesitation. He deserves 100 stars.
I really appreciate my therapist and the many ways she has helped me and given me insight on situations. It’s very easy not to have to prepare to go to an appointment with my baby and stay in the comfort of my home instead.
