Avoid Renogy — refund process is a complete disaster
I’ve never experienced a company make something as simple as a refund this painful. Renogy failed to return my money through my original payment method multiple times, then failed again through bank transfer, and even managed to fail through PayPal — while trying to pass a $12 fee onto me for their failed refund attempt. After all of that, they told me the only option left was to send me a cheque, which is slow, inconvenient, and completely unacceptable in 2026. Every step of this process has been dragged out, confusing, and handled poorly. I’ve had to chase them repeatedly, and each “solution” they offered created a new problem. Renogy’s finance and support systems are clearly not fit for purpose. If you value your time, sanity, or money, avoid this company. They should have refunded me in June, it is now August.
I have posted a review before so this is an update. After two months after returning the panel the overseas customer service that emails after 01.00 in the morning always asks me to jump through further hoops before they say they'll issue a refund. They are now asking for a collection receipt for the panel even though they never warned me that they would require one. I have photos with date and time stamps of the collection and they have the tracking of the item as they arranged the collection so they KNOW where it is ans when it arrived. I believe that this customer support is just a customer firewall to slow and discourage people obtaining their consumer law right to a refund. I have lots of future PV panel purchases planned and at the moment Renogy would be my last consideration due to this attitude to their customers
Normally I am a fan of Renogy but this time they have shown their true colours . Defective solar blanket which burnt our boat deck , they admitted it was faulty .. Told to return the product so lugged it all the way home to UK In hand baggage . Got no notice that the courier was coming to pick it up - small faff whilst I sorted it . It has now been sat at the couriers for nearly 3 weeks and Renogy are saying they are still trying to get confirmation that they have it ! It’s on the bloody tracking - I can see where it is ! Yet Renogy still refuse to refund me nearly £300😡😡😡
After less then a year of use my Renogy PCL series charge/inverter died on the 1st week of a 4 week roadtrip. Renogy customer service is sketchy due to location overseas, responses are slow and they play every card in the book to avoid helpful solutions. They want videos, pics and verified bench tests and then turn around and say it's not covered under warranty. I will be promptly removing all my Renogy solar panels, batteries and MPPT controllers simply based on their lack of customer support and inferior longevity. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra and invest in a reputable brand. It will save you the headaches when road tripping. There's a reason Renogy products are always on sale, inferior parts and workmanship lack of real-time customer service. Lost this longtime customer. UPDATE: As of today July 28th 2026 my Renogy Support: CASE2026061700003 has NOT been satisfactorily resolved. My PCL Inverter/Charger was ordered and installed October 2024 while my RV was in winter storage. It was FIRST used for 2 weeks in July 2025 and another 4 weeks in October 2025 before our RV was stored in a climate controlled garage. It died the first use in June of 2026. Below is Renogy feigning an interest in resolving, which I replied to June 23rd. Since then 🦗🦗🦗.
I purchased two batteries via eBay, unfortunately shortly after I was made aware I was going to be made redundant from my job, so decided to return the batteries. I received pre-paid Royal Mail labels from Renergy via eBay, all good, I thought. The post office refused the two parcels as they exceeded the maximum weight allowed for the labels provided. This point marks my extended back and forth with Renogy's customer services team and what I assume are their eBay team. After a couple of days of back and forth messages,I was advised to arrange my own return, I didn't really have an issue as I had decided to return them and it wasn't due to them being faulty or damaged. Having tried to arrange the return via various different couriers, I gave up as every courier wanted me to confirm that I wasn't sending a restricted item back, this includes batteries. Only specialist courierrs would accept them, the cheapest quote I got from a speciallist courier was £150+ per battery. What followed was over a week of back and forth emails and eBay messages, requesting information on the packaging, even though it was their original packaging, the weight, my address, if the packaging indicated that there were batteries inside, etc. Several of the messages requested information already provided in previous messages. Most recently, I was advised that Renogy's logistics partner could collect it if I could confirm I would be happy for the cost to be subtracted from my refund, however no cost was provided, so I asked for the cost advising I wasn't willing to confirm I would pay for the collection without knowing the cost. More back and forth emails and messages and a couple of days later I finally got a price, £7.50 if I arranged collection my self or an additional £16 if they provided a label, both via DPD, (who from my research wouldn't accept batteries). Requesting clarity, I asked if it was £7.50 + £16 if a label was provided as it wasn't clear and was this price for both batteries or each? Another reply received stating they would have to find out from the courier. Exasperated, I said I didn't care, just issue the label so I can get rid of these batteries. What was very disturbing was the reply that asked me to make sure any warning stickers or writing on the box about the contents being batteries was covered up prior to collection. In the mean time, I received a message via eBay from Renogy stating it would be £15 for them to issue return labels for both batteries. I replied informing them of the emails I had received stating £16 and that my contact with them had been frustrating and confusing. I have also had a message from eBay stating that If I don't complete the return by 28th July, (two days time) it will be automatically closed. While the majority of the communication from Renogy has been polite and appologetic, I still have the batteries sat in my front room. The communication has been confusing and very very frustrating and as a company they don't seem to have a coherent and workable returns process. As my purchase was via a credit card I will be requesting a full refund under section 75 from the credit card company, should this not be resolved. My experience up to requesting the return was fine and having not used the batteries I can't comment on their performance. Hopefully I'll receive my labels swiftly, but i'm not holding my breath.
I ordered 3 x 200W solar panels from Renogy via eBay and soon realised I only needed 2 so I wrote to them and they said no problem return the third. Due to the size of the package many couriers wouldn't take it or the fee was astronomical so I personally drove to Manchester to their distributor and returned the item boxed and clearly marked. I took multiple photographs including the man wearing a tabard I handed it too. He refused to give me any sort of reference. I am now 3 weeks in with messaging Renogy daily. They clearly use foreign agents to answer the massages because they take no note of the previous messages and the respond through the night. They repeatedly ask for a return tracking number which I do not have and which they know already because you don't get one at the distributor. I've sent them the photographs multiple times of the package which is clearly marked AS THEY INSTRUCTED. This is like a scam, despite being a paying customer for the 2 solars I kept. The only option I have is to escalate, I think I have 30 messages saying the same thing so now I am out of pocket for the solar AND the journey to Manchester and back. They will clearly continue until I give up. Horrendous experience and after service is none existent. Avoid at all costs other solar providers are available!!!
Despite shippingissues with DPD and late arrival, good service and until now a nice product. So I can only recommend Renogy, but be advised that multiple packages might be shipped with different carriers.
Ordered 200w solar panel, mppt controller and cables on 13/7/26 promptly received confirmation delivery scheduled today 17/7/26 cable and solar bracket arrived but no solar panel phoned Renogy as tracking showed solar panel was delivered, customer service advised that panel would arrive between 11.38am & 14.38pm Phoned customer service again spoke to an agent called Reden who assured me he would look into it and contact me by 14.45pm as I knew they would be closed until Monday messaged him at 14.46pm no reply. My first experience with Renogy not a very good one. Lies and unreliable. I now regret not ordering a Victron System Renogy customer service a Joke, I will try to get them to pick up parts I have received for a full refund even though the cables have been cut to and routed to suit my motorhome
If I could leave no stars I would! Their customer support is next to useless, I diagnosed an issue within 20 minutes and it has taken them 2 weeks to admit the issue, going around in circles trying to get out of replacing the part. I would highly recommend not using them on this basis!!
Bought a small PV 200W panel. It was scratched and damaged in transit. Immediately contacted them to ask to return it. Had nothing but procratsination from customer service department. They seem oblivious of the consumer rights that there is a 14 day cooling off period in the UK if it is an Online purchase!!! Why do they keep asking me to be patient? This has been going on for weeks. I am considering taking this forward legally as they seem unaware of their obligations.
ordered a 40 amp battery to battery charger parcel arrived and delivery time was good they sent me a 30amp solar charger emailed to highlight issue waiting for a response
I have a full RV stocked with Renogy equipment. The support team on facebook is excellent and very supportive. Especially the 400W solar blankets are top notch and have exceeded my expectations.
Battery not sent and not informed it was out of stock
I bought a number of items on the 18th June. A solar panel and charge controller arrived in good time in separate shipments, however, a lithium battery did not arrive after two weeks and I was never given an update on it beyond the order confirmation. When I called up on the 3rd July, I was told that the item was out of stock, despite the item still showing as in stock on their website, with a week's delivery time. I was also told that the item would not be back in stock for another month. It makes a mockery of the fact that I also paid for their "worry-free purchase" cover. They do have an opportunity to redeem themselves slightly by recommending an alternative battery that would work with my set up, but I would be very wary about buying another battery from them given that one has already failed to be dispatched. I cannot comment on how the solar panel or charge controller work yet, as I do not yet have a battery to test the set up with.
Bought their renogy phoenix 1000 and used 3 times before it stopped working. The support is nonexistent and even wires can't be replaced individually. Read reviews and experiences on Reddit. I haven't even commented on those forums so my terrible experience with this company, and now my $800 paperweight, is likely the tip of the iceberg.
I purchase 2 batteries and both won’t charge after 2 years they say they are under warranty but the want me to send in videos so I did and then they resend the same instructions to recharge the battery. I think they are confused because clearly we are past this step and I fell like they really don’t care about the customer after the sale because customer service is poor.
Recently purchased a solar kit with battery, inverter, panels and supporting accessories. The delivery was received in a timely manner. Lots of individual boxes made it a little tough to track what was received and pending, but all the tracking numbers were available online. Had a few follow-ups on parts of the order and the Renogy customer service was professional, efficient and very helpful. The return of one component and one damaged accessory were addressed and refunded within a few days. Good communication from Renogy through the process. We have installed all the parts and they are working great. Thank you Renogy for great service and products!
Edit: Renogy have agreed the 30amp mppt dc to dc is not working correctly and agreed to replace it. Thank you Renogy, I really do like your product. I have now had the renogy new version fitted and it is working perfectly. I would like to thank renogy for replacing my unit, it has resolved all the issues that I had. I love renogy products, they are excellent value, solid and reliable products, my 2kw inverter is brilliant. I have left the write up below of my older version of this mppt, just in case other people get a similar issue. Don't be frightened to contact renogy, they have been great on customer service. Have owned the 30amp mppt dc to dc for just 18 months. Renogy replace the first one after just a few months because it failed. This replacement is now also failing. It is showing 308.4v vaults, then switches back to the battery voltage totally at random. I have reported issues before of this unit to renogy and all they say is reboot it. There is clearly an issue as they advertise upgraded in their new adverts. I dont want to spend another £199 on something that just 18 months I have contacted renogy and reboot is an answer to a faulty product. We can love in our vans for several weeks at a time, a faulty or dangerous electrical item is a massive worry. I own the 2000w renogy inverter as well, I love renogy but you need to sort your quality control. I want this replaced again with the newer safer version.. it isnt acceptable for something to fail so soon. I will leave my details on your ebay account. I like Renogy, the design is nice, I have to 2000kw inverter which is very good. While this 30amp charger worked it has been great, I dont want to change it to a different design, all my wires are in place for this model. I just feel peeved that its only 18 months old and failed. I am in contact with Renogy. I am in contact with joy or Vincent using ebay messaging.
Don’t understand why I have to jump through hoops to get a warranty issue figured out. I guess bottom line is their panels are terrible. They will last only about one season in Arizona that’s about it. I would go elsewhere. Their warranty is not worth anything.
I would give them less than one star if that was possible. Their customer support absolutely sucks sucks sucks sucks! You will never speak to a person there may not even be a person there it may be AI you just get to send in a case and email back-and-forth. My knowledge of lithium batteries was that they lasted a long time sitting on the shelf. So that’s where mine sat for about a year because I only wanted it to back up power for my CPAP. Then after a year and a half, I put it on the trolling motor one day and it got super hot and I think it burned up the circuit board on the battery management system. The cell still read that they’re fully charged. But I can’t wake the battery up, and I can’t use it. They would do nothing to help me. They told me I had left it idle in storage too long. If this is the way this battery behaves it has to be dealt with. It’s a typical from everything else out there, and there should be giant red labels on the battery on all sides describing the techniques that must be used to satisfy their warranty procedures. Now I have a $500 Brick that could be useful but I don’t know how to make it work. I should’ve bought a Dakota. yes I could pay a little more but at least I could talk to somebody about it so if you’re looking for a lithium battery, go buy a Dakota or maybe one of the Bass Pro Shop brands but certainly do not buy from this company. They suck outrageously!
