I disabled Auto Save before the debit…
I disabled Auto Save before the debit occurred. I did not authorize Oportun to initiate a $329 withdrawal from my Chime account after my Rainy Day withdrawal was deposited. I never established a recurring savings amount of $329, and I did not authorize this transfer. Oportun should not immediately take back the exact same funds that were just transferred to me simply because i made a withdrawal. While future automatic savings transfers may resume if Auto Save is enabled, the withdrawal itself is not supposed to trigger an identical savings transfer. Opportun is now saying they cant give me my money back after they initiated a set and save transfer without my authorization.

Not a very good experience with oportun…
Not a very good experience with oportun at all they sent my check like I requested through the mail and they sent it to a different address I needed the money before Christmas to buy gifts for my grandchildren but the check never arrived cause it was sent somewhere else and then they told me that they had to cancel that check and cut another check and by the time the new check was cut and in my hands that sent me a text that my first payment was due yet I didn’t receive the money at that point I called and told them what was going on and I was told that I had to make the payment even though I didn’t haven’t received the check because I was in the contract! I didn’t make the payment, I received the check 2 weeks after Christmas which at that point it was useless to me I told them about it and they canceled the other check I thought I might as well keep it so I went to my bank to cash the check my bank cashed it for me to find out a couple of days later that I had to pay my bank cause that check bounced cause on of the manager that I talked to didn’t like my comments or that I spoke my mind and canceled the check, I wouldn’t recommend oportun to any of my friends or anyone if you need a loan try to get it from a bank or a better loan company that will give you better rates than oportun

When you apply for this loan Oportun …
When you apply for this loan Oportun please don’t give your bank information . Not less they process your application first or if you qualify good if not they keep your bank information and one of employee will continue logging into your bank account which I’m having trouble with it now I call them talk to a Sam if that’s his name he give me a ticket. I’m still having problems went to my bank I’m still getting the notification. I reported this to FTC I got a ticket from them it was yesterday I got denied for a loan for Oportun on 5/6/2026 So please First let them process the application before given your information. If they say they need your information no loan shouldn’t ask for bank information. Not less you got the loan let’s stay safe I learn my lessons I don’t want nobody experience what I’m dealing now .. Their response is let sort this out which I did and also I have a ticket all day long 5/10/2026and before that still trying to get into my account listed learn never again ! With this company Oportun loan it’s a nightmare!

Oportun does not help you
Used them for years and always made my on time payments. I recently went through cancer diagnosis and treatment and started having trouble paying them. They want to sue me now. Instead of helping me out when I reached out, they only lowered my payment for a couple months and never asked how long my treatment would be. Never again will I work with this horrible company

Payment Process takes up to 2 weeks
I got approved for my first loan and it’s enough to say i won’t be working with them again. I believe they still have the old ACH system. Any payment you try to make either auto pay , cash , or same day debit card payment or with ANYTHING. It takes minimum of 5 days up to 2 weeks to clear. If you are person that likes to stay on top of things this is not the company for you. They take exhaustingly long and sometimes even messes with your on time payments. My payment wont ever even reflect on my app, it always says “in process” causing unnecessary worry for someone that likes to get their stuff done and go. Apparently they have many complaints regarding this but they don’t really care. As soon as i pay off my loan i will seek other companies with better upgraded payment system .

Swindler, scammers, legal extortionists
Oh I would be glad to write a review about you scumbags nobody ever take a loan from them they add money in between loan payments for example if you have a $1,100 loan and you pay $200 by the time the next payment is due somehow you'll be back to like 1,050 instead of $900 like you should be I would literally only borrow from them unless you want to take a hit on your credit and just not pay it back that's about the only way you benefit from them

What a joke didn’t want to give any stars at all. I couldn’t complete app online because of error so gave me phone number. Had representative help me. She kept sending links. Last one was for plaid to connect my bank. After all that hit second I was denied. It could just denied me before all of that .

Easy to work with, but high APR
They were easy to work with, and gave me a line of credit when I needed it. My only negative is that their APRs are very high, in the realm of predatory lending. Now that I paid off the loan I most likely won’t go back to them due solely to the APR %.

-1 STARS HORRIBLE COMPANY
I never requested a loan from this company, now it is saying I owe $50.30 cents. I called to ask why I owe that money and they demanded I give them my DOB and my full name, I declined because I see no reason to since I never requested a loan and they ended the phone call very rudely. I had to call them a second time because I dont want to pay the money, the second person was more helpful so I gave them my DOB and my full name, along with my email, and they still couldn’t help me, but said they are having an investigation for my account. Extremely horrible company. I will be blocking and reporting this company.

A quick option, but not at all recommended
A quick option, but not at all recommended. They have a super high interest rate, and besides that, they tell you that you can pay towards the principal to save on interest, but their platform makes everything difficult, which confirms that they don't want you to save anything.
