Transfer shares - Bad form formats and customer service
I've been trying to transfer my shares into IB for 2 months. My current broker tells me the forms they send are not legible. I checked the forms they're all in light grey text on a white background, printing them makes the forms basically invisible. I reported this to IB and mentioned can they not use an inaccessible font color on their forms to which they responded, "use a better printer". I checked the forms with a web accessible tool to which they fail any standard accessibility standard. They simply just don't have the power to change the font color blocking the whole transfer process.
The worst platform I have ever used Interactive Brokers is the worst app and platform I have ever used, in any category. It is astonishing that a company handling something as serious as people's money offers a platform this slow, outdated, confusing, and unpleasant. Pages take far too long to load, the interface is ugly and badly organized, simple actions feel unnecessarily complicated, and the platform creates frustration at every step. This is not about one bad feature. The entire experience is terrible. The app, website, navigation, loading times, layout, error messages, and basic usability all feel fundamentally broken. A financial platform should provide speed, clarity, reliability, and confidence. Interactive Brokers provides the exact opposite. I genuinely tried to find one positive thing to mention, but there is nothing. Zero redeeming qualities. I have used many apps and platforms, both financial and non-financial, and none has ever given me a worse overall experience. This platform is not merely outdated or inconvenient. It is unacceptable. Easily the worst platform I have ever used.
I opened an account with them to trade predictive markets. I have had several occasions where my prediction was correct and they didn't pay on the contract. They just delete them like they never happened. I think it's Forecastex that is the issue, but IBKR owns Forecastex. Stay away.
2026. I would rate IBKR SG low too. I have transferred money HKD into IBKR. HKD49 and HKD1. IBKR said I did not insert full Interactive Broker name, rather than IBKR. OK, my fault. but they KYC-ed me properly, the funds is with them. They gave a deadline they would refund the money due to internal policy (so this is not a bank problem) since they refused to credit it to my IBKR account. They didn't. The money was lost for 2 months unaccounted for. Given the amount was small, i forgotten about it. and I sent a large amount of HKD over. Same issue. They said they would return the money. Except that they didn't for 4 weeks. Finally when they returned it, they deducted massive HKD300 out of it claiming it is their intermediary Bank DBS who charge intermediary fee. DBS denied it. Remember IBKR also bragged that 1st withdrawals are "free"? It wasn't. And also, let it be clear that despite IBKR successfully ID me, verified my money belong to me, they CHOOSE to bounced it back. This has become a MAS complaint for 2 months and IBKR is claiming that they are still "investigating" that HKD49+HKD1 and HKD300 (in total worth less than SGD100). I think sacking one of their SG staff and reimburse me that cost + opportunity lost (HK stocks soared in that 3 weeks IBKR lost my money) would have been better for IBKR. I cannot imagine IBKR behaves like this in USA or AU. It is very typical SG style. Then I sent AUD10 to IBKR SG. It arrived same day. Next, I transferred massive amount AUD from Australian Bank to SG bank. Despite all the scam hurdle, account freeze, control being put in place to validate I am not being scammed. Australia Bank successfully send, and SCB singapore successfully acknowledge receipt within half day. Imagine, this -- 2 big aging banks managed to send funds within half day using an OLD OLD OLD SWIFT in half a day. I then onward that large amount of AUD to this so-called agile, fintech - IBKR (after successfully tested it with AUD10 a day earlier)... ... you can guess what happen now... IBKR lost that large AUD sum. and now the SG office is copy-paste scripted answers. It is no joke that there is a corporate culture difference between IBKR SG/India vs IBKR Australia itself. During busy hours, some SG calls are routed to Australian team. I kidd you not that IBKR AU is as professional as typical Aussie banks. They are the one that raised a formal complaint. While SG team and India team has been stonewalling me, hang up my call, reply with scripted evasive non-committed replies. If you are trading large amount of money and doing transfers... IBKR SG is best to avoid. I would say IBKR SG poor servicing, lazy attitude is no service to IBKR group business model of low fx rate, low trading fees. My AU money is still missing at IBKR SG and I am so stressed. I tried with Tiger and MooMoo... you would notice a WORLD of difference in their customer service. Their staff seemed to be staffed by PRC or something, but they bring over a culture of efficient, knowledgeable and prompt responses that carries concrete result without delay similar to aussie style [5/Aug/2026] IBKR said this is part of active complaint. I would like to highlight that IBKR SG has been "investigating" this for 3 months now. It has also exceeded MAS regulatory requirement to provide satisfactory response within 14 days. All it managed to come out at the end of 3rd month was "your money was lost because our intermediary bank decided to absorb the HKD350 due to IBKR SG internal policy to re-route them" Note also that IBKR has habit of deleting old ticket, and open a new ticket for same OLD issue so that their KPI dashboard would not have long outstanding unresolved issues. The CEO Li YuJun rather have IBKR SG become world famous on internet reviews by thrifting HKD350 (a small amount SGD60 for a giant such as IBKR) + lost of opportunity due to the length of time it takes. Australia banks and FI would have compensate it us upfront as the money just wouldnt worth 1-3
The worst broker I have dealt with over the past 40 years by far. Customer Service agent tells me to find another broker and blames me for their incompetence. Charged me 100USD for a failure of their system. Reported to AFCA.
Account resticted for a week $6000 missing not returned yet
Ive had my account restricted last tuesday on july 28th 2026. It was automatically restricted due to me submitted multiple deposits and they flagged it needing more information cool. I provide he documents they request same day. Bank statement, proof of payment, email confirmation etc. I had $6,000 debited from my bank account just for them to say they couldnt credt it to my account because it wasnt any recipeient name listed which is a lie because the deposit was submitted from MY account. I enjoy the platform for its order filling but the customer service has been terrible. My account has been restricted and under "review" for a week AND im out $6000 they claimed they returned to my bank but hasnt arrived even being on the 5th business day. Well over the 24-48 hours they say it will talk. This is rediculous. Ticket numbers #T845938 and ticket #T879727
Immediate regrets that I started using this broker after moving from the EU to the US.. The interface is the worst I've ever seen. Logging in via web browser makes you keep running in cycles, because it always sends you back to the login page immediately even though I empty the cache om my computer and logged out on other devices. Will have to find a way to easily transfer my funds to another broker, because this one is crap.
Quite literally the worst support I've ever seen from an organization. It's impossible to get someone on phone support, I get an automated message and then it just hangs up on me. I used to live in Ireland, and opened up an account there, and am now back in the US and would like to transfer my account to a US one. Nothing is intuitive in this platform, and the support is non-existent. The one time i was able to get someone on the line, which was last year, what they suggested didn't work.
The platform interface is a nightmare and they have only AI support
The platform interface is a nightmare, and it's almost impossible to get to human support; the AI support is useless. When are companies going to realize that we don't want to talk to stupid bots? Update- I ended up finding their human support but it was very difficult to do so. Also I felt that the support was somewhat limited to what they can do in terms of manual operations, and they could not help me much with my issue.
Garbage platform. Didn't approve me for options, waited 30 days, filled things out the way they asked, still rejected. Even after I had added money into the account, and then MORE money because they have a $500 threshold for market data... blah blah blah... go to Moo Moo...
The Interface is a nightmare, always loging out on phone or pc, I needed my full name to tranfer stock, their system only use initial on middle name, stock transfer rejected...open ticket, they suggested put midle name in first name field, to do that requires copy of ID! again!?! Simply very difficult to navigate and change settings.
I have just signed up and have been testing out the system. I am considering moving a large amount of money onto the system as I am moving Countries. I have been trying to find out thru tickets and talking to people how to get permission to buy IBIT on their system. No one will give me a straight answer. Very difficult, Very convoluted to deal with. No effort by the people I am dealing with to help solve my issue and they do not care that I am trying to move a significant value of assets. If I find someone else I will be using them.
I have signed up for an account with IB and have deposited some money (which I will now reverse) but having read these terrible 1* reviews I could never use you or recommend IBKR if you were the last and only broker on earth!
I've had an IB account for about 5 years. They're conversion rates, commissions etc are among the best in the space. However, if you have any sort of issue that is unusual it is IMPOSSIBLE to speak to a human to fix it. I moved from the UK to Canada. It should have been a simple fix. Open a Canadian account (which I did), then transfer the assets. However, every time I tried to log in, I was logged in to my UK account. The new account confirmation email only provided the last 4 digits of the new account number with the rest showing as XXXXXX. Without the account number, I couldn't complete the transfer, or log in to that new account directly. After two months, and countless attempts to explain this to their help bot which led in circles EVERY TIME (I was told to open a ticket, when I tried to open a ticket, i was forwarded to the bot, and forced to explained my circumstances over and over and over). I've had it. I'm closing out my account. This could have been fixed in 5 minutes of a person was able to assist me. They don't deserve my business.
I have had to call in a few times this week with tech issues and questions cash and margin account. Every time, customer service was perfect. They care and paid attention to what my issues were are worked to solve it fast. As a day trader nothing more important then having a platform that has your back. Willing to keep working for your buisness. Thank you
Very bad experience i would not recommend this application there is a lot of other applications that is much better and answer you fast with reasonable answers
"IBKR — Ideal for Multi-User Family Office Workflows
My experience with IBKR has been excellent from a family office perspective. The login experience and account settings are intuitive and easy to manage, which reduces operational friction for staff and principals. I particularly value the platform’s dual-login model that separates the master (approver) role from trader users: family members or delegated staff can place trade requests while the master account retains final approval authority. This design provides a practical balance between delegation and control, improving workflow efficiency without compromising governance. Overall, IBKR’s approach feels thoughtful, secure, and well-suited to family offices that need both flexibility and strong oversight.
