Angela and Alyssa were so well organized, such a calm presence, and lovely godly women to work and serve with! Their patience, calmness, servant's hearts, and humility shined through the entire week.
My experience was great in so many ways. I think some of the main things are how much I grew closer to the Lord, how I saw God in new ways, and how the program reminds us to be so intentional with everything we do and say for the Kingdom of God!
This past gap year with Experience Mission has been one of the most transformative years of my life! I came out of it with lifelong friends, a driving thirst for God and His Word, and a greater appreciation for just how BIG God is and how He is moving in me and in my family in Christ around the world. I learned so much about my faults and my strengths and how to rely on Him and to glorify Him through them. These past nine months have opened my eyes to what serving God looks like at home and on mission; blending those into one until everyday life becomes my mission field and serving God IS my life, not a part of it! My team for the trip was made up of such amazing men and women of God who grew, laughed, cried, prayed, worshipped, packed, unpacked, and lived the Christian life next to me and I have a family for life in them. <3 Through it all, I gained a renewed sense of awe of God and an example of what it truly means to live for Christ; there's no way to be lukewarm after this!
Lyneda Meyers I would give Experience Mission an overall five-star rating because I truly loved this program. When I was searching through different mission organizations, I wanted to find one that truly stood for something meaningful and aligned with the values of serving God. I didn’t want to join a mission trip where the organization didn’t have a strong foundation or a heart for serving others, and that is one of the things that really stood out to me about Experience Mission. My experience was absolutely wonderful and life-changing. I loved how deeply Experience Mission knows the communities they serve. It wasn’t just showing up as a team and going into a random community. They have spent years building relationships, learning about the people, and investing in these communities. Because of that, when we arrived, we already felt welcomed and connected because previous teams had built those relationships before us. One thing I loved most was seeing how Experience Mission serves with such a genuine heart. They truly live out being the hands and feet of Jesus by loving, serving, and caring for the people around them. This experience has changed my life in ways I will carry with me forever. I am so grateful for all the people I was able to meet, the churches we served with, the schools, and the orphanages we had the opportunity to be part of. Every community taught me something and left an impact on my heart. If you are looking for a mission organization to serve with, I would truly recommend Experience Mission. You will have an unforgettable experience that will challenge you, grow your faith, and change your perspective. You come home not wanting the experience to end because your heart feels so connected to the people and the work God is doing through the ministry.
The service component was excellent! Our group of 19 teens, 2 college and 3 adults had an amazing experience working with Kids Belong in Muskegon Michigan. Our 3 EM staff people were awesome. They problem solved in real time and led a meaningful worship at the end of each day. The only thing that could have been better was where we stayed. There were a lot of different people and groups coming and going daily throughout the week. I did need to stay on high alert because the space was not designated for us.
This is the best decision I have made in my 13 years of being a Youth Pastor. We've been to the Arizona Black Mesa location 5 times now, and each time it gets better and better. God shows up in miraculous ways every time. And every time our students come back having experienced a truer, deeper, level of Christian Community that is talked about in the Early Church. It's the real deal. Serving hard together beats the tar out of a Summer Camp. Also, Experience Mission's mission philosophy is top notch. The emphasis on people over projects is huge, and over the years we have learned to slow down, and to hear God's voice in the midst.
As a team leader it was nice to have someone else plan the logistics. We had the freedom to chose our focus for ministry. They provide great trainings for pretrip and even a devotional to follow while on the field.
Communication was major struggle. We did not know a 2nd group was joining us. Both groups bought supplies that were not used. It would have been helpful to prepare beforehand for kids club. In addition, we did not have an EM person on the ground to coordinate operations and nightly follow up. Some questions were left unanswered or responded to slowly. This includes not knowing the address we were going to in Belize leading to issues at immigration. Pastor Nelson and Pastora Jenny were great and the trip went well. However, the lack of communication impacted the overall experience at a rather high level.
This trip was so good! Experience Mission helped us pivot very quickly whenever it was needed, and they did a great job of making sure we were okay, even when things didn't go exactly as planned. I loved the community and my team so much. At first, it can seem a little scary to spend a month with complete strangers, but EM does a great job during training of helping everyone get to know each other. The only thing I wish there had been more of was prayer and conversations about Jesus because, no matter your denominational background, Jesus should be the one thing you all have in common. All in all, I loved this trip so much. It is a really great organization—they are organized, supportive, and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend Experience Mission to anyone considering a mission trip.
Say yes! EM is more than an opportunity to go on mission, it’s a family of Christians who genuinely put Christ first while simultaneously taking care of their missionaries. Even in the midst of chaos from events out of anyone’s control, EM was proactive and reactive at every step of the way. While staff might be a little slow to text back, the hard work and dedication they put in to make trips possible is astounding. I am so grateful I found EM.
The communication throughout the trip was excellent. Even when unexpected situations arose, the leaders kept us informed every step of the way. I always felt safe, cared for, and confident that everything was being handled well. It made the experience much more enjoyable and stress free.
The team I was able to serve with were some of the greatest people I have ever met. I love the emphasis on building relationships rather than building projects.
An amazing experience. Life changing, and would go again in a heartbeat. I will say I felt like at some times it was a little too hands off, and a lot of our meals were not covered when we got into the community, which led to us spending lots of money while we were there.
Our team just got back from a week in Savannah, GA and it was an amazing trip! The leaders Mel and Kaylee did a great job! They were great Christian leaders, well prepared, and did an excellent job all week.
My youth had an overwhelmingly positive experience in Jamaica. Thank you experience mission! The community was beautiful and welcoming. The relationships we built will stay with us forever.
We loved working with Experience Mission. Our pre-process was smooth and easy. During the trip, we had plenty to do and everything was well organized. I certainly recommend using them in the future.
Our group of 35 (high school students + teachers) were initially scheduled to attend a mission trip with another organization based in Jamaica. it fell through in November due to the Hurricane and we had one month to find another trip and discovered EM. one of the only trips available for our size was to Cuba. without having a previous relationship with EM and with the limited knowledge and travel US citizens have with Cuba, we were certainly hesitant. however, we did a lot of research, had many conversations with the team in Cuba and got advice from outside sources that convinced us that this was a safe and worthwhile trip. and they were correct. we had an incredible experience with both the local EM team (Autumn) and with the mission organization based in Cuba (CCM). I have been on several mission trips and can confidently say that this was one of the most seamless experiences I have had, from start to finish. if you are considering using EM, don't hesitate, it was wonderful and I was impressed

And I strongly encourage you to consider Cuba as your mission trip location. They desperately need help and support with resources and HOPE. While you certainly need to be smart and aware of the political and situational climate when you travel to any location, do not automatically rule out Cuba because of what you hear in the media or because of the communist/socialist government. Once down there, we gained so much perspective and it broadened our view on the reality of what is going on, which is much less threatening. You find that the Cuban people are so grateful for our support of their people (not their government). They do not get the help other countries get because of the limitations on travel or people being scared to travel there, but we had not safety concerns and the work was incredibly meaningful and welcomed. We spent time with the community, helped with physical work that they do not have the labor to handle, brought resources (like basic first aid items) and got to encourage and let the Cuban people know that they are seen and loved. I can't wait to take another team next year. You will be blessed to go to Cuba and work with EM! My life is forever changed. Ps. - there was also a mosquito epidemic that started in August that many of our team members were nervous about. Mosquitos were not very present when we were down there, as the weather had calmed cooled off, but several of us did get minor bites during field work. As of now, no one out of our group of 35 has gotten sick from food, water or mosquito illnesses. I will update my post if that changes as sometimes things can show up a couple weeks later with Dengua or Chickagunya. But as of now, it seems as though our team was not affected by anything.
