The kids had a great time seeing the world safely, making memories, and learning about time management and other skills to be successful in life. They got a taste if cultures different then what they experience every day.
Our local guide was truly outstanding. He was kind, adaptable when weather disrupted plans, and offered thoughtful insight into Japanese culture and daily life. His presence was a highlight of the trip. Some aspects of the broader EF experience, however, fell short of expectations. On several days, our group was rushed through beautiful shrines and temples - places that deserved more time and reflection - only to spend extended periods at shopping malls with stores we can easily visit at home. This made the tour feel more focused on general tourism than on meaningful educational experiences. Hotel quality also varied. At one location, three EF groups were placed in the same hotel, and the logistics were challenging. On our first day, we waited roughly 25 minutes for an elevator because the stairwells were locked and marked “emergency use only.” Having no accessible way to exit the floors left us feeling unsafe, and it caused real concern about how we would evacuate in an actual emergency. Overall, we appreciated the cultural learning and the exceptional work of our guide, but we hope EF will make improvements to ensure future travelers have a more balanced, educational, and safe experience.
My son loved his trip to Japan with EF Tours. He said the tour guide was super friendly, helpful, and had great insights to the areas they visited. I felt very confident sending my child overseas with this group and would recommend them.
Our daughter did the Belize Conservation tour. She loved it. It was her favorite trip she's been on (and she has been to some amazing places). I will say, I was nervous about her going with out us, but the teachers assured us the tour directors were amazing. And they sure were! We heard so many positives about their director making sure they had what they needed, such as bug spray, water, etc. He also helped fix items, like goggles, etc. They said he always was behind the last person in their group when they were out places. This small safety detail was huge. On top of that, the entire experience was such an amazing eye-opening trip, with lifelong memories and bonds with both current friends and new friends. Highly recommend the experience!
Travel to destination was a nightmare. One flight was canceled called and kids ended up flying to a totally different country and group was later split into 2 in order to fly to the actual destination. During this time there was a huge lack of communication. I didn't not know what flight my daughter was boarding, no flight number or airline information was not provided either. This lack of communication with the parents is totally unacceptable. My daughter told her group leader that she was going to the bathroom during one of the walking tours in Italy and despite telling the group leader, the whole group left before my daughter finished in the bathroom and she could not locate them. This trip was a nightmare and I would never recommend another person to send their child on an EF trip.
We had an amazing time and thanks to the support from start to finish with all of the EF staff we dealt with it made the process that much easier. The tour director they gave us in Italy was the best m.
Our guide, Simona, was awesome. I just wish that they could have scheduled things a little differently. On one morning we had to wake up at 3 am in order to catch a flight to Milan. That would have been ok if we could have gotten to bed earlier, but we didn't get to the hotel until 10pm the night before, so we got very little sleep, making the whole trip to Milan so awful. Everyone was so tired that it didn't even feel fun or interesting. We were just miserable. Other than that I think the tour was great. I love the EF platform, that we can look at the schedule, etc. The only advice I'd give to our tour guide would maybe to stay with us when doing walking tours, etc. She usually left us and then would come back after the walking tours. Not a huge deal, but it would have been fun to spend more time with her and hearing her perspective on things.
Our Tour Coordinator - Francesca - was phenomenal!! She truly made this an unforgettable experience with the addition of several locations. She also selected the most knowledgeable and intriguing tour guides to ensure the group received the best tour available.
We had a fantastic time! The tour director and bus driver were great! Friendly and helpful, also very personable. It was a great experience. We enjoyed all the places we visited. The hotels were acceptable (have to remember we can't compare them to US hotels). The included meals were good, my only complaint would be too many french fries/potato chips. We would have liked to eat more traditional foods.
This is my second time traveling with EF, and it is my first time as a group leader. Traveling to the UK and seeing locations in relation to the literary greats was such a fun, enriching experience. I will continue to use and trust EF in the future as they have provided and continue to provide nothing short of the best.
This tour exceeded all of our expectations. The tour guide Lacy was amazing and each individual city tour guide went above and beyond what was expected.
We toured Ireland for 9 days. It was a wonderful trip. I LOVE how EF has everything organized and puts detailed information on the app. This made it so easy to see what was happening and when. Our guide and bus driver were awesome. So friendly and knowledgeable. The only thing that myself and two kids disliked was the rushed times at certain sites. An hour and a half to tour an entire castle and grounds or to tour a museum was not enough.
EF overcharges and underdelivers for our child's experience. Here's a breakdown of the itinerary. 1. Flight to London, from NY started in Rochester and flew to Atlanta. After a delay, the flight arrived the following day too late for their tour in London. 2. Their hotels, in each city (London, Paris, Madrid) were at least an hour outside of each city. This inhibited or cancelled multiple tours, with no refund. 3. The return flight to Rochester started in Madrid and instead of traveling back directly to the US, most definitely due to costs, flew to Amsterdam, then onto Atlanta and finally onto Rochester. 22 hours of flight time is criminal so that this firm can make more money. The airport is 100+ miles from our home and flight arrived @1am. No surprise there, to save more money albeit the trip exceeded $5,000 for 10-days (which was really 8 days due to excessive and super inconvenient flight itineraries.
