On June 23, 2026 I called America home shield to switch from my current warranty company, there was a 30 day waiting period, I had three properties that I listed to the representative when the 23rd came. I got the email stating the properties right now active only two of the properties were active when I called the company to let them know that there was a mistake made. I asked them to backdate it and take the proper payment that they needed and they refuse to. I even asked to speak with a supervisor, this company has bad customer service I had to redo the entire property. They took a payment, but now I have to wait another 30 years and I have no coverage on my property because I canceled my last insurance policy after the 30 day waiting. Period was over, they should take responsibility for their era. It shouldn’t be on the customer they should backdate it and do the right thing. This is the kind of company I’m dealing with, but they’re all crap so what are you gonna do?
They scammed me out of an a/c repair. They have vague clauses specifically designed to deny your a/c replacement. The companies that they have contracted uses this language to deny you an objective and rightful diagnosis. The first company did not even do any diagnosis test, that company was not even certified for my a/c system, yet American home shield quoted them for denying me coverage, saying a missing $5 ventil cap disqualifies me from a $5000 replacement. The "second opinion" company, equally made up another of their reason to deny me. This time it was abnormal damage. Of course our own HOAs trusted a/c company did not agree to their non-sical claims, but AHS only considers their own contracted a/c scam companies. As long as they insist having these clauses, know that they are purposely scamming people. They are notorious for using language like "not normal wear and tear" or "foreign debris" or "missing parts" to deny service you have paid for and are entitled to. Oh, and I forgot to mention that each of these contractors/scammers were happy to replace my a/c for $10'000 or more.
Worst company ever. The salesman promised me 3 times that my home would be covered. Then months later, I needed help and they denied me stating that I should have gotten a home inspection done. What a bunch of lies. Then they refused to let me contact a real supervisor nor their legal department and they keep billing me.
Formal Consumer Complaint Regarding American Home Shield's Failure to Refund Approved Reimbursement
I am filing this complaint regarding the unacceptable and deceptive business practices I have experienced with American Home Shield (AHS), my home warranty company, concerning an approved reimbursement of $885.00 for garage door repairs. On Thursday, July 23, 2026 at approximately 1:00 pm CST, I called American Home Shield main telephone number from my home in the State of Missouri, and I received mixed messages from customer service representative, then the Cash-in-Lieu representative that the check was sent on 7-2-2026, but yet I received an email immediately after the call that a check is being sent. I promptly called the number on the 7-23-2026 email message in which an American Home Shield Cash-in-Lieu department representative stated it will now take 30 days to process a check to be sent to me for $885.00. Again, as previously indicated, I am getting the "run-around", mixed responses, and further delays by American Home Shield not sending a refund for $885.00 to me; all demonstrating the validity and impact of my complaint as written. I was also informed by a AHS Cash-in-Lieu department representative that there is an invoice number assigned to the check, and when I asked a customer service representative about a tracking number for the check mentioned as being sent on 7-2-2026, he informed me that there was no tracking number for my $885.00 refund check sent to me from American Home Shield. This was concerning and questionable from a reasonable person standpoint. I have retained supporting documentation, including email correspondence confirming the approved reimbursement and records of my follow-up communications, and other indisputable evidence supporting my complaint. I respectfully request that my complaint be investigated and that American Home Shield be required to: - Immediately issue my full refund of $885.00 via overnight mail. - Honor the written commitments made in its email correspondence. - Be held accountable for any deceptive or unfair business practices, if appropriate. - Honor the written commitments made in its email correspondence. - Review and correct its customer service and reimbursement practices. Ironically, after posting my complaint online , I received an email message, dated 7-24-2025, from American Home Shield Cash-in-Lieu department stating that my refund has been sent and that if I do not receive it within 10 business day to call. From this standpoint, I am skeptical because from what I have experienced as stated in my complaint because this appears to be another delay tactic pertaining to refunding my $885.00. I originally requested that my VISA credit card on file be credited for $885.00, but American Home Shield appears to be purposely delaying my refund. This is unacceptable and frustrating to me as a longtime customer. Again, I have indisputable evidence supporting my complaint against American Home Shield. Thank you for your assistance. Respectfully submitted, Christopher H.
My contract with AHS was expired on May 2026. I have nit setup auto renewals on. I provided my payment details for my contract ended on May 2026. Without my consent they renewed and posted charges for two months with super high monthly charges and checking with them I got response that its as your payment details are with them they renewed my contract. I have transcript of chat.
Avoid them they don’t cover anything! They only enjoy taking your money and denying your claims!! They should be removed from business they are scammers and lie over and over again to innocent customers!
I have had a positive experience with American Home Shield. Some contract terms and coverage limitations could be better, but AHS is a legitimate and established company that pays covered claims. Their customer service has been helpful, and they have worked to resolve my service requests. Read the contract carefully to understand the exclusions, but overall, I trust AHS and would recommend them.
When my dryer broke the technician found that the part was not available so machine would have to be replaced. AHS kept wanting to schedule service appointments not set up replacement. They delivered a much cheaper machine to my driveway. They had not scheduled an installation. Since it had been weeks with out dryer I had to remove my old one install new one and dispose old one myself. Afthat I called to cancel several times and they hung up on me and kept billing me. I filed a complaint with my credit card to block them so they changed name slightly and rebilled me.
I called American home shield on June 24,2026. They sent someone out to look at my hvac system that quit working. They just today July 21 , 2026 approved the repair for my system but sent me an email with my share being $3,165.00 after I’ve been paying for over 20 years. What a scam they have going on. 2 more weeks before the air conditioning will be fixed still
Unjust claim denial based on a false vendor report and emergency repairs!
"I am extremely frustrated with American Home Shield. I filed a service request for a roof leak covered under my plan. During a severe, heavy storm at 8:00 PM, water was actively leaking into my house. To prevent massive water damage to my property, I acted responsibly and applied temporary spray foam to stop the immediate leak.AHS sent out an unqualified contractor who completely botched the diagnosis. They claimed the expansion foam caused the leak, which makes absolutely no sense since the foam was applied hours after the leak started to mitigate damage. AHS expects paying customers to sit back and let rain ruin their homes instead of taking emergency action. To make matters worse, the vendor sent workers who clearly did not know what they were doing. AHS completely refuses to listen to the paying customer and blindly trusts an incorrect vendor report. I demand a second opinion and a full review of this claim.....Dispatch: 38494049
Avoid AHS. In my experience, AHS relies on the "pre-existing condition" exclusion to deny expensive claims. This happened to me twice. Last year, I was left without AC for over a month while AHS delayed my claim and ultimately denied it as a pre-existing condition. This year, they again denied my AC compressor claim for the same reason, despite my system having been repaired previously and AHS's own contractor confirming months earlier that it was operating normally with proper refrigerant levels. My family was left without AC in the Florida summer for two weeks until I had no choice but to pay for the repair myself. I paid for peace of mind, but when I needed help most, AHS found a way to deny the claim.
I called AHS on 7/17 with an AC unit down, early Friday morning. Had to wait until Tuesday 7/21 for a tech who showed up late afternoon (basically 5 days passed). He checks outside unit pressure very low, already says it's my evaporator coil. Without any pressure testing, isolation, dye, etc...he says i need to replace my evap coil and writes up estimate. Next day AHS says even though my top plan covers the item, they deny the claim first and says i need to wait for another second opinion, to come 3 days later. By the time i get the second tech out here, it will be 8 days without AC. I may be wasting time writing this review because they still operate, but I just wanted to add to other AHS reviews and tell people I'm going through same (some sound much worse than my case). If they deny my legitimate covered claim or delay more after second opinion, that's it for me... no more American Home Shield (no more!).
What made my experience great is that I first started online to schedule service because my air conditioner stopped working on Thursday, 07/16/2026. I actually made the online appointment on that Sunday, 07/19/2026. I received confirmation that the claim was received, and Extreme Heating & Air will be calling within the next 24 business hours. I received a call from Dawson later on that same day, which is Sunday, and we scheduled the appointment for 07/20/2026 between the hours of 2-4 pm. Dawson arrived on time, and once I explained what was going on with the air conditioning, he assessed the air conditioner to confirm what I said, and he knew exactly what to do. He completed the job, showed me what the issue was, and what was replaced in about 30 minutes or less. I was thinking that it was going to cost me a lot of money because I have watched a lot of YouTube videos of customers getting scammed and paying for unnecessary repairs. Hence, my anxiety was through the roof, and when I say I felt relief in the end when I got my receipt, I couldn't believe it. This was the best experience I have ever had with an insurance company. Very satisfied and highly recommend.
We paid into this home warranty for 3 years! First mistake. Started out about 57 a month. And then at some point they changed to about 88 month. Auto payment! So after 3 years I decide to put in a service call for our dishwasher for something simple. The latch sticks when the cycle is done and the door won’t pop open.. So they send over this company All desert appliance in Reno NV. He comes and looks at our dishwasher and says. I’ve never seen this brand before! He couldn’t even open the door. We opened it. He looks inside and says. What’s that.. salt for the dishwasher.. yep we our salt in… He states he doesn’t know this brand. I’ll have to go back to my office and see if none there knows this brand. I’ll get back to you. Then I get an email from AHS asking how are service was. I immediately reply to the email. There was no service!!! They did nothing!! No reply to my email. By now I’m pissed. I’ve already paid that $100 weeks ago for no service! I call. I get some woman who barely speaks English and I tell her the story… she is like…but they say they did a diagnostic test! NOPE… I tell her I want credit and I want to cancel my contract… she apparently can’t help with the cancel of contract. I have to call someone else for that. I tell her ok. Put in for the Credit to my charge card and I’ll write in again and cancel my contract….she never does a thing…2 weeks go by and I’m charged 87.99 again fot that months charge nd no credit! I call in again and after 3 people I finally get someone who speaks better English. By now I’m hot! She yells at me for raising my voice.. I tell her all the same stuff and she finally cancels my account with them. I. The meantime I call discovered to dispute the charges because im still not getting my $100 back and even after twice saying I. Email and on phone I want to cancel contract I get billed again!! Long story short. I never got my 100 credit or the 87.99. I’m stuck. No one will help me…not even discover. So after 3 years and putting about 3500 dollars into this company I got nothing but heartaches and it was a pain I. The butt and they never helped with a thing.. I should have just saved that money I was sending to them and when something broke. Use it to fix it yourself!! Never agin!!! No that is a lie!! I have not received any credit to my charge card at this point! My credit card company said you denied my side of the story apparently I was charged back after discover initially gave me the credit! They are saying you provided proof. Apparently just because All Desert repair said they came and did diagnostics even though they didn’t and nothing was ever fixed You are sticking to the story! If I see my credit card charges actually reversed I will come back here and say that you did that!!
American Home Shield is a terrible company to use as a home warranty provider. My central air has been out for 12 days now because of the lack of urgency and scamming ways of this company. This company doesn't give a damn if it's 90 degrees inside your house or if your little kids cant sleep at night. I currently have the platinum plan which is the highest plan available. I'm paying $130 a month for this warranty and still have to pay a 100 dollar service fee to receive any type of service which is a scam already in itself. So far, I've been forced to buy a $500 portable ac unit to keep my family some what comfortable until my central air is fixed. On Monday July 20th a technician finally diagnosed my ac and discovered that the compressor is bad. However It took American Home Shield 2 full days to approve the estimate provided by the hvac contractor. Today is Thursday July 23rd, and only after I was forced to pay $358 in non covered cost "an electrical wire" the Hvac company can now order the replacement part which will now take who knows how long for them to receive the part and schedule an appointment to come out to my house to fix my ac. Which will probably be a couple more days. This company does not care about the customer and I would advise someone thats looking for a warranty company to look elsewhere or just save that $130 a month for a rainy day and pay a company out of your own pocket to fix breakdowns. American Home Shield only works with certain contractors causing unusual waiting times to get service if their contractors are busy, Meanwhile there are plenty other contractors open, available and qualified to fix your issue.
They take too long to get someone out. I waited a week in over 90 degrees, just for tech to misdiagnose the condition. I wasted the $125 fee they charge to have someone come out and still had to pay someone for the actual problem. When I reached out to see what they would do considering they didn't repair because they say it was a pre existing problem on a new unit and it was not even what was wrong. They told me they have to go by their techs diagnosis. Ill be glad when contract is up!
