How to Compare Insurance Beyond the Price
Excesses, exclusions, service quality, and claims handling can matter more than the headline premium.

The cheapest policy is not always the lowest cost.
Compare the same cover
Two policies with similar names may protect different events, limits, locations, or people. Build a short list of the risks you actually need covered and compare each policy against it.
Check compulsory and voluntary excesses together. A lower premium can hide a much larger amount payable during a claim.
Study exclusions and conditions
Read the sections explaining what is not covered and what you must do to keep cover valid. Pay attention to maintenance requirements, security conditions, waiting periods, and limits for individual items.
If wording is unclear, ask the insurer in writing and keep the response.
Research the claims experience
Reviews about purchasing are useful, but claims reviews reveal how the product works when it matters. Look for patterns involving communication, evidence requests, repair networks, and settlement times.
